About Me

About Me

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I’m turning 40 this year and I’ll tell you it has been an extremely eventful 40th year. In September of 2016, after having dabbled in cross-dressing all my life, I finally admitted to myself that maybe this was more than just some fetish or shameful behavior. I began seeing a gender therapist to explore what I believed at the time was my genderfluid identity.  Well after peeling away layer upon layer of denial, fear, doubt and repression, I finally in February of 2017 came to the determination that I am transgender and began the process of male-to-female (MtF) transition.

Why Blog?

From the time I first began to explore the idea I might be transgender, I went searching for people my age who had been through or were currently transitioning. Funny thing is, even though they say the average age of MtF transition is 40, it’s very hard to find trans women in that 35-45 age group. At least not many that are open enough to publish their stories online.  I found lots of younger folks in the 20-30 range and more experienced ladies in the 50+ category, but their issues and those I faced were very different so that wasn’t as helpful as I’d have hoped.

Since I’ve started exploring my gender identity, I’ve had numerous people suggest that I should write a blog. I didn’t take the idea too seriously at first, but I’ve come to realize now that maybe I can help fill that void for others who are in my age group and considering transition. That’s the goal of this blog. I’ve never been a blogger, really have no clue what I’m doing but I hope that other trans women out there will find the information I share to be useful in some way.

With my blog, I hope to share how transition has affected my family, my marriage, my job and my overall outlook on life among other things.  If even one trans-woman is able to use my story as inspiration to find her own truth, then I feel like this blog has been a success. Thanks for visiting and happy reading.
